Shipping Main Menu

The Shipping Main Menu provides configuration of global settings affecting multiple shippers as well as providing an overview of those shipping modules that are configured and active in your store. An explanation of the various settings on this page are below.

Shipping Setup

This section provides an overview of all shipping modules in your application, each column in this table is explained below.

Default Shipper
To set who the default shipper for your store is select it here.

Shipper Name/Description
Descriptive name of each shipper or shipping option.

Real Time Status
Show the status of each Real Time Shipping module in your store, if the value here is "Production" then this module is fully configured and available for use in your store. Whether a Real Time shipping module is displayed depends on the following items:

(i) The Real Time Status must show "Production"
(ii) The Active value must show "Yes"
(iii) If it is a real time Shipping Module (such as UPS, Fedex, DHL or USPS) then you must have Flat Rate Shipping disabled for these real time modules to be active.

Active
Whether you wish this shipping module to be active (enabled).

Sort Order
When you have Multi Rate Carrier display enabled the order in which the carriers rates will be displayed (grouped by carrier) is determined by the sort order set here. In the above screen shot DHL rates would be displayed first, followed by United States Postal Service (USPS) followed by Fedex.


Real Time Shipping Rates Display Setup / Multi-Rate Display Options

This section provides the capability to enable Multi-Carrier rate display table during checkout in addition select a default layout to use to display these rates. By default when checking out the customer must select their preferred Shipper and once selected and a valid shipping address entered shipping rate estimates for this carrier will be displayed. It is now possible to show a table of combined rates of 1 or more carriers without the customer selecting a default shipper.

Implementation Notes
(i) Only those Real Time shipper's modules that have a Real Time Status of "Production" and an Active setting of "Yes" will be used.
(ii) Enabling multi-carrier rate display will disable the display of UPS shipping rates. UPS shipping rates cannot be displayed in a combined shipping rate table.

Enable multi-carrier rate display
To enable or disable the display of multi-carrier shipping rates use this setting.

Show delivery times (where available) in real time shipping rate display
To show estimated delivery times with the combined shipping rates use this option. Note not all carriers provide this information, only carriers who support the delivery of the information will show estimated delivery times if this feature is enabled.

Select a layout for shipping rate display
A set of default rate table display option are presented here to choose from. To view a larger preview of each layout simply rollover the layout image thumbnail.

Real Time Shipping Default Rates (used when real time rate request/s fail)

This section provides the capability to establish default shipping rates for each carrier. The purpose and occasion when these rates will be used is as follows

- If a request to a Shipper's Rate server fails to return a valid response then the default rate set here for this shipper will be displayed and denoted as such (see Advanced Store Settings to configure the text used to denote the display of this rate). By default domestic and international default rates are populated for each carrier. You may update the values of each and or remove 1 or more as well as add others.

Shipper/Service
Show the Shipper's name followed by their service description for this default rate.

Domestic/Intl
Denotes whether the service is a domestic or an international service. If you ship to international destinations it is useful to establish default rates for domestic and international services. If a rate request for a domestic address (US) fails then the domestic default rates will be displayed, likewise for an International (non-US) address.

The default rate for this service.
